Description
A perennial growing 1-2 feet in height, Prairie Spiderwort is found throughout the central/north central United States in grasslands and disturbed sites. It prefers full sun and grows well in dry soils and semi-arid precipitation regions. Its bright blue/purple flowers are easily seen while blooming from May-August and are frequented by pollinating insects early in the day while the flowers are open before closing at night. The plant blooms slowly over a long period of time which offers great landscape and gardening opportunities.
