Description
Ohio Spiderwort is an herbaceous perennial member of the dayflower family that grows from 2-4 feet tall. It can be found growing in the eastern half of the United States in road ditches and medium open prairies and meadows. It grows best with full to partial sun and can tolerate a wide variety of soil types and moisture levels. The blue flowers can be seen from April-July in the mornings before they close in the late afternoon and evening. Ohio spiderwort can be grown from seed with a fall planting or an early spring planting with stratified seed. Garden and landscape plantings are common due to the pretty flowers that bloom for an extended period.
