Purple Top Turnips

 

Turnips are a short season brassica that is easy to grow, and is primarily planted for pasture, wildlife, and cover crops. Purple Top Turnips can develop a tuber of about 3.5 inches in diameter and rapidly reach a vegetative height of 2 to 3 feet.

 

  • White Globe variety
  • The grazing potential can be quite with the whole plant being sought by livestock
  • Planting in late summer will for substantial growth and development before a killing frost
  • This hardy plant can be grazed intensively after freezing until fully grazed off
  • Intensive grazing will prohibit regrowth
