This cool season buch grass can be found growing in the central portions of the United States from Pennsylvania to Arizona and north to Montana. Prefering dry to mesic-dry soils that receive full to partial sunlight, Porcupine Grass can reach 2-4 feet in height. Also called Needle Grass, the floret is very sharp and can penetrate the skin.
