Description

This perennial member of the mint family grows 1-3 feet in height and can spread up to 2 feet. Its bright white blooms can be seen late summer from July-September. Preferring to grow in full sun, it does best in moist to dry soils where it can spread via rhizomes to create small, dense colonies. It can be found in its native habitat in the Eastern half of the United States. Most herbivores stay away from this plant due to its mint taste and its cause of digestive issues. However, the flowers are highly utlized by many nectar seeking insects. Its hairless, slender stems and leaves give this plant its name.
