Dense Blazing Star

 

Also known as Marsh Blazing Star, Dense Blazing Star is found primarily in the eastern 1/3 of North America. An attractive plant for many butterflies and hummingbirds, this perennial forb is a perfect plant for butterfly, water feature and rain gardens.

 

  • Found more often in gardens than in the wild
  • Grows in wet meadows and moist open woodlands, making it a unique blazing star due to moisture preference
  • A perennial, its purple blossoms can be seen from July-September opening from the top down of its inflorescence
  • It grows best in full sun and can reach 4 feet in height with good conditions.
