Description
Tall boneset can grow to a height of 3-6 feet in the dry soils of the upland prairies and open woodlands that it inhabits. Found it the eastern half of the United States, this perennial blooms from August-September with its numerous white flowers. It shows good drought tolerance and can spread through rhizomes to form colonies in overgrazed pastures. Tall boneset prefers to grow in full sun or part shade and will occupy many different soil types. Tall boneset can be distinguished from false boneset by its opposite leaves as compared to the alternate leave of false boneset. Historically, it was known to cure many different ailments from the common cold to spotted fever.
