Smartweed grows best in moist to wet soils across the United States. It is highly utilized by waterfowl and other wildlife. It can be found in wetlands, mud flats, and pond edges. Smartweed can grow while inundated as long as some of the leaves remain above the surface. Plants will grow 1-2 feet in height and produce a white/pink flower from July-October.
