Purple Top white Globe turnips can grow about 3.5" in Diameter. Since the entire plant, roots and tops, are eaten by livestock the grazing yield can be very high. Best managed with late summer planting, and allowing the plants to grow completely until growth ceases in fall, usually about the time of hard freeze, at which time it can be grazed off in one pass. Purple top turnips do not regrow after grazing since the entire plant is consumed.

Planting: sow anytime from late July to September 15; seeding rate in pure stand is 5 lb per acre, optimum depth is 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
