Description

A short growing annual found primarily in the southern parts of the United States, phlox can be seen in abundance growing along the roadsides in early spring. Rarely growing over 18” in height, it prefers full sun and sandy soils, although it can grow in a wide range of soil types. This wildflower likes to grow in short grass meadows where it blooms early in the year, May-June. Phlox many different flowering colors of red, white, purple, and pink, make it a favorite in cultivated gardens and landscapes. Fall, shallow seeding is recommended at a rate of 8-10 pounds to the acre for a full stand.
