Description

Shell-leaf penstemon is a native perennial plant found in the central portions of the United States. It grows well in the full sunlight of the upland prairies but will tolerate partial shade. Growing to a height of 4 feet, the large purple flowers can be seen in bloom from May-July and are highly utilized by pollinators and hummingbirds. Very shallow seeding in the fall will allow for natural stratification of the seed and promote germination in the spring.
