Description

Cardinal flower is distributed across the southern and eastern halves of the United States growing best in wet to mesic soils. A perennial, growing to a height of 4 feet, its bright red (cardinal) flowers can be seen in bloom from August-September. A must have in any hummingbird garden, this plant is highly utilized for its nectar source by many different species of pollinators. It grows well in both full and partial sun and inhabits stream banks and other mesic soil areas that have high moisture contents.
