Description

Preferring moist to medium soils, Dense Blazing Star is found primarily in the eastern 1/3 of North America. Found more often in gardens than in the wild, it grows in wet meadows and moist open woodlands, making it a unique blazing star due to moisture preference. A perennial, its purple blossoms can be seen from July-September opening from the top down of its inflorescence. It grows best in full sun and can reach 4 feet in height with good conditions. An attractive plant for many butterflies and hummingbirds, dense blazing star is a perfect plant for butterfly, water feature and rain gardens.
