Description

Found growing across most of the United States and Canada, heath white aster can be seen in upland prairies and open woodlands across its native range. Rarely eaten by livestock, especially as it matures, it will increase in overgrazed pasture settings.  Preferring disturbed, dry to mesic, well-drained soils with full to partial sunlight exposure, it reaches 1-3 feet in height. Flowering from September-October, the white/pink ray flowers and yellow/purple center disc flowers are well known due to their use as an ornamental.
